Kathryn is a Preucil School of Music alum. She received her B.M. from the University of Iowa where she studied cello with Amos Yang, Tony Arnone, and Hannah Holman. Kathryn also received teacher certification from the University of Iowa after a stateside student teaching placement and an international student teaching placement in Sydney, Australia, at Methodist Ladies College. She received her M.M. from The University of Denver where she studied cello with Richard Slavich and Suzuki Pedagogy with Carol Tarr (cello) and James Maurer (violin). Currently, Kathryn is the Director of Orchestras at Northwest Junior High School in the Iowa City Community School District and performs in the South East Iowa Symphony Orchestra and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony. Kathryn taught previously at the Preucil School and rejoined the faculty in 2015.
