Preucil School of Music is pleased to be able to offer aid to students in need of financial assistance for instrument lessons or Preschool. Generous donors over the years have created a Financial Aid Investment Fund which is an endowment for current students.
- The Stacy L. Thompson, M.D. Memorial Fund is an endowment specifically for new students.
- The Brian Cretzmeyer Piano Fund is an endowment that helps to support current piano students.
- The Fund for Inclusion and Diversity in the Arts provides tuition assistance for under-represented students in our community who identify as Black/African American or Hispanic/Latino.
- The Giles Joslyn Scholarship Fund provides financial aid for students from Muscatine, Iowa.
These financial aid endowments and funds provide an ongoing and permanent source of funds for annual tuition costs for qualifying students through the annual Financial Aid program in April of each year. The funds are designated for retention by the Board of Trustees and administered by the Financial Aid Committee.
Families who qualify for the financial aid program are awarded partial aid to pay for their student’s annual tuition.
Financial Aid is given on the basis of the following criteria:
- Financial need of the family
- Recommendation of the student’s teacher regarding student’s preparation of lessons and eagerness to learn
- Active involvement of student and family in Preucil School enrichment activities and volunteer programs
- Volunteering at financial aid fundraisers; if applicable.
In allocating aid, the Preucil School of Music is recognizing the devoted efforts of caring parents and offering the services of dedicated faculty. This requires an obligation on the part of the applicant to demonstrate sustained effort in the student’s studies if given financial aid. Such efforts would include careful practice periods (length agreed upon with the teacher) at least six days per week, regular attendance at group lessons, and a strong desire to progress.
Financial Aid students are required to participate in:
- Group and/or orchestra if a string student and qualifies by age and ability
- Musical Achievement Week
- Annual Reflections and Goal Setting Process
- Financial Aid Fundraising Events
The Financial Aid Program accepts applications in April of each year for the following academic year (August 1 through May 31) for students currently enrolled or on placement. Applications are posted on the school’s website and available in the administrative offices. Parents may only submit two instrument applications per student.
For new families enrolling outside the application window, please call the administrative office at 319-337-4156 or email us, for more information.
