Ute earned her B.A. from the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien, in Hannover, Germany, where she studied viola with Hatto Beyerle and Jaap Zeijl. She completed Suzuki teacher training with William Preucil, Nancy Lokken, and Helen Brunner. Ute taught at the UNI Suzuki School in Cedar Falls from 1998 to 2015, where she was the administrative director from 2010-2015. Ute is a member of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, and plays regularly with Orchestra Iowa. She is the parent of a Suzuki violinist and a Suzuki cellist, an experience which has deepened her understanding of the Suzuki philosophy of teaching. When not teaching and performing, Ute enjoys work as an internationally known specialist in German genealogy.
