Event Details

Sandra Cermak Hudson will present on the incredible journey of one man’s quest for his royal ancestor’s holdings. In 1989, William Lobkowicz, heir to the “House of Lobkowicz” journeyed to Czechoslovakia to reclaim his lost heritage, property and holdings belonging to his royal ancestors. To date, Mr. Lobkowicz has been able to reclaim 13 castles, 150 buildings and 25,000 acres of forest and farmland once belonging to his ancestors, some dating back over three centuries.

Special interest to the Preucil School of Music is one of the family castles, the Nelehozeves Castle, birthplace of the famous composer Antonín Dvořák. For over three centuries, beginning in the 1600’s, the House of Lobkowicz generously supported many famous composers such as Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart. The Lobkowicz family holdings include over 4,000 rare manuscripts and musical scores, many unpublished or out of print.
