JHMJams will select a trending American pop tune and together with the students will create a unique instrumental arrangement, known as a “cover”. Topics discussed will include chords/harmony, instrumentation and roles, arranging, and chamber music/ensemble playing. These skills will be applied by rehearsing, performing, and recording an instrumental pop cover for the JHMJams channel.
Additional topics will include building social media brands and starting your own projects/pages/channels. There will be a Q&A session for the students to ask about music, college, careers, etc.

Workshop level is for String and Piano student in Book 5 and above (Preucil Alumnae welcome).

Please RSVP by June 1 to Lisa Guttenberg at lguttenberg@preucil.org. Payments can be made at either the Main Campus or North Campus office.
About JHMJams
Reposted and acknowledged by pop heavyweights such as Mike Posner, DNCE, Bebe Rexha and the Chainsmokers, as well as the radio station Classic FM (UK) and the entertainment & media company Lionsgate, JHMJams delivers short casual pop and jazz covers every Tuesdays and Fridays on Instagram (@kkubota8). Initially gaining attention with his unique approach of plucking and strumming the cello like a guitar, Ken Kubota founded JHMJams as a way to explore and share his passions aside from his classical training at Juilliard. He hopes to make classical musicians more accessible to the general public, and also pop music more accessible to classical musicians. JHMJams does not have a set instrumentation or members as Ken values the collaboration with his diverse and talented friends and colleagues, as well as his fans.
The Workshop is $10 per participant.
The Concert is free and open to all ages.
