Preucil School Welcomes New Violin Faculty

Mary holds a bachelors in violin performance from North Texas State University and an MM from University of Colorado- Boulder in violin performance/Suzuki pedagogy where she was a student of Bill Starr. She has also studied with Will Schwartz, Phil Lewis, and Charles Trager. Other Suzuki teachers have included Teri Einfeldt, Doris Preucil, James Mauer, John Kendall, and Brian Lewis. Mary also received an MA in mental health counseling from University of Northern Iowa. She has taught with the University of Northern Iowa Suzuki School for many years. She is a member of the Waterloo Cedar Falls Symphony. Mary has two daughters who are both musically inclined. Mary joins our violin faculty on a part-time basis.

Preucil School welcomes new Literature & Materials of Music teacher for the Velay Certificate Program

Zachery Meier is originally from Duluth, MN and is a composer currently living in Iowa City, Iowa. Prior to his arrival in Iowa, Zachery has studied composition at Washington State University and the University of Minnesota. His music has been heard in venues and festivals throughout the United States, Canada, and Vietnam. Zachery is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Iowa as a graduate teaching assistant, where he is studying with David Gompper.

Tyler Hendrickson is an Iowa City native and an alumnus of the Preucil School of Music. Tyler holds a B.A. from Luther College, an M.M. from Wichita State University, and is a Doctoral Student at the University of Iowa, where he holds an Iowa Performance Assistantship performing with the Center for New Music. Tyler was the former Piano Department Head at the Talent Education Suzuki School. The consummate musician, Tyler is an accomplished pianist and Suzuki piano teacher with 14 years years of experience. Tyler joins our piano faculty on a part-time basis.

Stephen Mulvahill received a BM in piano performance from the University of Houston with Dr. Tali Morgulis and an MM in performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with Dr. Dmitri Shteinberg. Currently, Stephen is a doctoral piano student of Dr. Rène Lecuona at the University of Iowa. Stephen has taught piano students for several years while living in North Carolina. He is enjoying his summer of Suzuki Teacher Training and looking forward to furthering his knowledge in the method. Stephen is joined by his new wife, a clarinetist, who will be pursuing her doctorate.
